Three important points: 1) This is truly the most special of Georgetown locations, 2) This is more like a house than an apartment, and 3) one can buy a parking space in the lot behind the unit. Perfectly located on a quiet street in the heart of Georgetown’s East Village, this historic Federal building once housed Miss Lydia English’s Female Seminary, a distinguished school that drew the daughters of many prominent Washington families. During the Civil War, it was transformed into a hospital that received visits from national figures including President Abraham Lincoln, Clara Barton, and General Winfield Scott. More recently, the property was thoughtfully converted into high-end condominium residences known as The Colonial. This particular unit was the showpiece of that transformation, combining historic character with modern luxury. Parking available for purchase. The interior is a refined blend of hardwood, marble, and stainless steel, bathed in natural light from three exposures. Spanning two levels with a private entrance, the home features two spacious bedrooms with en suite baths, a living room, dining area, family room, office, three full bathrooms, a chef’s kitchen, and a private balcony. The office overlooks a quiet, secluded garden, and every inch of the residence has been enhanced with top-tier details—from Sonos sound to designer lighting and mirrors.
